Lightbulb Class Suggestions Rant..

During the period i stopped playing AoD for a few months i started playing Neverwinter Nights. It's pretty cool for a while... but then gets repetitive... but that's not what i'm going to talk abt... But I played as a Monk on there, and I always thought of Monks being healers, not really getting in on the action. But on NWN the Monks were awesome hand-to-hand fighters, and simple weapons. I think it would be cool to have a monk that could fight as well as a fully armored fighter, with no armor and no weapon.

Just my main class suggestion... I'd like to see what you guys have to say too.

Re: Class Suggestions Rant..

i've allways had a char with one point in monk. i really like the class but would really love to see them revamped to be great fighters hand to hand. i had brought that up before. but i can't rember if it was on old forums or on these new ones.

Here is an idea for you. What about Monks having 'Weapons'? Like spellbooks, I've noticed you can equip them, not sure on Wrestling gains tho atm. What if you made different 'books' to use as weapons for Monks? Maybe giving them different abilities and stuff. Like weaker ones, and then maybe make them craftable with Inscription, and add high level scrolls than just regular scrolls, or higher level books. Then add runic pens or something. Just an idea that I would like to see, cause in other threads I've seen people ranting about weapon variety.

Good idea. Would put the inscription skill to more good use. But i think different gloves should be used for weapons, or staves.

(This whole thread doesn't have to be about Monks either)

Re: Class Suggestions Rant..

I agree on monks being fighters, martial arts are a huge part of meditational practice. problem i see is, monks are able to do anything, any weapon. buddhism doesn't dictate your proffession rather it applies to the proffession you choose. In dnd monks have martial weapon proffeciency, which is the most logical way to do it. but in ultima, martial weapons vary from staves, to fists, daggers, katanas all divided by their skill attributes :/...So where do we decide which one a monk should be any better than any other, do we make special monk class items?like combat gloves and just use wrestling, or should all monks be macing for staves and end up using war hammers and maces instead.

On tecreds idea, i think instead of having books that do dmg, having books that increase your monk spell strength (mantra scrolls) might be better placed. because holding a book is NOT an advantage to a martial artist who relys on his hand's dextarity and freedom.

This isn't DnD, it's better! If you want DnD, go play it! And if you had Monk Gloves, then you couldn't wear other gloves, wich would mean giving these awesome resists, and other people who put just 1 class point in them just for gloves, equals an unfair advantage. Maybe make Monk Class Books, and go by Class lvls, like lvl 1, 2 and 3, but still be able to make 'Runic Books'.

Is it just me, or does Tecred seem to be making more and more sense as time goes on...
